The second edition of Winter Cup, the largest esports tournament in Georgia, will take place at the Olympic Palace in Tbilisi. The total prize fund for the championship is 100,000 Gel ($38 000).
The Grand Final of the Winter Cup will be held in seven disciplines: eFootball, DOTA 2, TEKKEN 7, FIFA 23, CS:GO, NBA, and Pubg Mobile. Betting company Europebet sponsors the tournament and the Georgia Computer Sports Federation, as well as supports the development of Georgian gaming.
“Winter Cup has become one of the main tournaments in Georgian esports, which is considered a major championship. The winner receives a money prize, as well as an appropriate rank in the tournament.
“The tournament motivates gamers to treat the game as a sport and more responsibly prepare for each championship,” said David Chogovadze, president of the Georgian Computer Sports Federation.
The first grand finalists for the Winter Cup have been announced for eFootball. Two brothers Rati and Mate Nanavi will play there. The Monaspa and Protos teams will meet in the DOTA 2 final.
Guga Iremashvili (Team Protos) easily won a possibility to play in the grand final for TEKKEN 7. The second finalist, Shako Khomasuridze, will be his opponent.
FIFA 23 is traditionally the most popular football game. We can see the two strongest players in the grand final: Giorgi Gogoli and Datuna Beria.
Ufg and Sprenty became the main teams for CS:GO. The Sprenty was created specifically for the Winter Cup, while the Ufg has been around since 2017.
The Winter Cup also launched the grand final for the NBA for the first time. The finalists, Alexander Urushadze and Sanji Saginashvili, have already met before. Urushadze will try to take revenge on Saginashvili.
The Pubg Mobile grand final will become the most ambitious during the Winter Cup with 16 teams in it. The FOM team became the most productive after the semi-finals stage, while last year’s champion ALPI will try to defend its title.
The final stage of the Winter Cup will take place on January 28 and 29 at the Olympic Palace in Tbilisi. You can watch the tournament live on the Europop Youtube channel.
