In the final round of the group stage of the World Championship Under-20, the Georgian national rugby team defeated Italy, becoming the leader of their group and advancing to the playoffs. In the first half, the team controlled the game, leading 18:10, and ultimately prevailed 30:17, earning an additional bonus point and finishing first in Group C with a total of nine points.
Under the leadership of Lado Kilasonia, Georgia’s U20 rugby team managed to win their group despite a 23:33 loss to the tournament hosts South Africa in the first round. In the next match, they were able to return to the winning path, defeating their Argentine rivals with a score of 20:0.
Argentina finished second in the group with five points, ahead of the home team and Italy, who scored the same number of points, but were lower than Argentina in additional indicators.
The World Championship will continue until July 14th.
