Comings and goings have become commonplace in the industry, and Call to Action, Gaming Laboratories International and Codere are among those who have bolstered their teams with key personnel.
Gaming Laboratories International
Gaming Laboratories International has announced the appointment of two key executives who will be responsible for establishing and maintaining relationships with government agencies, tribal governments and regulators. As a result of these changes, Joseph Bunevith, who joined the company in 2021, became vice president of government affairs and regulatory affairs, and Kelly Myers was named director of government affairs.
These steps are part of an expanded group that is focused on providing land, lottery and gaming organizations with “additional opportunities” to collaborate and interact with tribal and government agencies. Particular attention is also paid to technologies and recommendations for regulation.

Coder
Gonzaga Higuero was announced as the new CEO of Codere, a Spanish and Latin American gambling company. Since February, the company has been without leaders following the departures of Alberto González del Solar and Alejandro Rodino. Higuero, formerly of Health Transportation Group, Europe’s leading medical transport company, is a new addition to the gambling industry.
“It is a great challenge and responsibility to lead this organization, with the aim of improving our competitiveness and profitability to address a new phase of growth after the pandemic,”— Iguero said in a new position.
“We have new projects ahead of us to continue being a world benchmark and provide the best entertainment and gaming experience to our customers.”
Jumbo Interactive
Jumbo Interactive announced that CFO David Todd has expressed his intention to leave the position for health reasons. After 16 years with the company, Todd will remain in his position until a suitable replacement is found. The company has now begun an “comprehensive” recruitment process, considering both internal and external candidates. Todd will remain as a consultant and will work for the company for as long as it takes to ensure a smooth transition. The new appointment is scheduled to be announced in the second quarter of 2024.

Massachusetts Gaming Commission
Following the departure of Chief Executive Karen Wells at the end of this week, the Massachusetts Gaming Commission continues to face change as the director of the Bureau of Investigation and Enforcement, Loretta Lillios, announced her intention to step down at the end of the summer.
However, members of the commission have already taken steps to fill the vacancy created by the departure of the chief executive by interviewing candidates for the position of interim executive director. As required by state public assembly law, panel members conducted public interviews with two candidates: MGC General Counsel Todd Grossman and MGC Director of Racing and Chief Veterinarian Dr Alexandra Lightbown.

Betknowmore has taken steps to strengthen its team, according to the British charity. In the first case, Kev Clelland joined the organization as a Senior Engagement and Communications Officer, with a primary focus on working for the National Gambling Support Network. Kev has a wealth of experience spanning over five years at YGAM, where he began his career as Education Manager in Northern England and then moved up to Director of Analysis and Engagement before leaving this month.
In addition, Ricky Gane has been appointed Graphic Designer on Betknowmore staff. He has significant experience with well-known brands such as Dyson and Starbucks and will be developing graphics for the organization.
Call to action
Matej Tomic announced his decision to leave Call to Action, a Maltese marketing agency based in Sliema.
In a statement posted on social media, Tomic shared his impressions of “an incredible joyful journey, successful partnerships and inspiring meetings at the company.” He also commended the industry for teaching resilience and opening doors to “countless possibilities.”
He added: “As I take this step, I plan to reflect and recharge this summer before venturing into a new career path. However, if the right opportunity arises, I am ready to dive into work immediately.
“I would like to express a big THANK YOU to my colleagues who stood by me as the only international in the Dutch office. I am grateful for the incredible times we shared together, and these memories won’t be forgotten.”
