Kazakhstan is preparing to introduce a new law that will prohibit civil servants, as well as military personnel and members of military formations, from visiting gambling establishments.
We’ve reached out to a representative of the international gambling business consulting firm — 4H Agency — for comments on the recent legislative changes that might affect gambling in Kazakhstan.
Hennadiy Novikov, Head of Consulting, 4H Agency, said: «It should be noted that the idea of restricting access to gambling for people who receive salaries from the state budget is not new in the post-Soviet region.
«More than a year ago, Georgia added all civil servants to the «black list» of players.
«However, it should be noted that the proposed project does not in any way restrict these categories of Kazakhstanis from participating in online sports betting.
«At the same time, it should be said that a complete ban on the participation of certain persons in gambling is technically very difficult to implement due to the spread of the Internet.»
