Five Best Startups: SBC First Pitch Barcelona Finalists, Second Round

Five startups in the innovation space were selected as finalists in the second round of the SBC First Pitch Barcelona event, held at the SBC Barcelona Summit this month. These finalists will compete for an exclusive prize package valued at over €60,000, which will support the further growth and development of the winning company.

This competition, organized by Yolo Investments, will provide an opportunity for five ambitious companies to present their products and business plans in front of a live audience of leading industry professionals. The winner will be determined by a jury consisting of experts in the field of venture capital and investment.

The first pitch competition will take place on Wednesday 20 September at the Fira de Barcelona Montjuïc and will form an integral part of the “Future of Technology ” conference.

The finalists of the SBC First Pitch Barcelona competition are:

1. We The Bookie: Online B2C sports betting platform with 50% monthly GGR discount for lost customers.

2. Rdentify: A platform that identifies vulnerable customers in real time during interactions and flags them for the Safe Play team, and triggers custom interventions when behavioral risk is noticed.

3. SnapOdds: SnapOdds uses the user’s mobile camera to recognize real-time events on TV and streaming. It’s like “Shazam for sports betting,” allowing operators and affiliates to integrate SnapOdds into their websites.

4. SQR Group: Reduces compliance complexity and fraud by enabling identity verification without storing sensitive documents using Secure QR Code® technology.

5. Sport Exchange Market: A web application platform where fans can trade virtual football team shares for the same experience as betting or participating in fantasy sports.

The First Pitch competition will be held under the leadership of Anton Kashubovsky  (Managing Director, SBC Advisory Partners) and feature a star-studded judging panel of industry experts. The panel consists of Adam Rosenberg (Senior Advisor, Gaming & Leisure. Blackstone), Evert Einroos (Partner, Yolo Investments), Peter Heneghen (Senior Associate, Bettor Capital), Hilary Stewart-Jones(Independent Consultant, Harris Hagan) and Claudia de la Riva (Angel Investor, Various), who will each cast their vote to determine the winner. 

The winning startup will be awarded the following prize package:

1. Two-day trip to Tallinn for a seminar with the Founder of Yolo Investments, Tim Heath, including airfare, accommodation and covered expenses, costing EUR 25,000.

2. Advertising package from SBC Media, including advertising in SBC Leaders Magazine, two editorials to promote the business and a guest appearance on the iGaming Daily Podcast, totaling €7,000.

3. A prize pack from Receptional, including collaboration with a specialized team to create a bespoke digital marketing plan, worth €10,000.

4. Square in the Air Press Pack including a corporate video filmed at the event, two press releases distributed via Square in the Air’s social channels, free social media audit, competitor analysis and strategy guide, valued at £5,000.

5. Exclusive design package from Vegas Kings, a recognized leader in the field of iGaming design and development, worth 2,500 euros.

6. 3m x 3m stand, including full decoration, sponsorship mention and 4 free tickets to SBC Summit 2024, valued at €15,000.

Last year’s SBC First Pitch Barcelona was won by Kero Gaming, an in-game interactive social platform for microbetting. Second place went to Paradox, which presented a parity betting protocol with a distribution of commission between participants. These startups showcase diversity and innovation in the world of betting and gaming.
