According to the International Football Federation website, the 2030 FIFA World Cup will be held on 3 continents for the first time in history: South America, Europe and Africa.
The FIFA Council approved a joint bid by Spain, Portugal and Morocco, which have so far become the only candidates to host the tournament. In addition, the opening three matches of the World Cup will be held in Uruguay, Argentina and Paraguay in honor of the 100th anniversary of the World Cup tournament, which took place in 1930 in Uruguay. The tournament is scheduled to open at the Estadio Centenario in Montevideo and close at the legendary Santiago Bernabeu stadium in Madrid.
The tournament was then held in the capital of Uruguay, Montevideo, from July 13 to July 30, 1930, in which only 13 teams took part, as many teams were simply unable to cover the distance to Uruguay. In the 1930 World Cup final, Uruguay beat Argentina 4-2 to become the first champions of the world.
The organization also announced that it is starting to accept bids to host the 2034 FIFA World Cup.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be held in the United States, Canada and Mexico, marking the first time the tournament will be held in 3 countries at once.

Brazil in 2014 was the last South American country to host the tournament.
