4H Agency reports that according to a recent statement by the Commission’s recent announcement, certification can now be carried out not only by Ukrainian companies, but also by a number of testing laboratories located outside of Ukraine:
1. GLI Europe B.V. (Kingdom of the Netherlands)
2. BMM Spain Testlabs, s.l.u. (The Kingdom of Spain)
3. eCOGRA Limited (United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland)
4. NMi Certin B.V. (Kingdom of the Netherlands)
5. SIQ / Gaming Laboratories, Ltd. (Republic of Slovenia)
Dmitry Hotsyn, Head of CIS Desk and Senior Consultant at 4H Agency, comments on the situation:
“The gambling industry in Ukraine is still in its infancy, having been relegalised in 2020. As such, there are numerous issues to solve.
One persistent hurdle has been the certification process. Ukraine doesn’t yet have a dedicated regulatory framework for the technical certification of gambling equipment. As a result, Ukrainian firms have had to rely on broad technical standards, like those for electrical safety and information security, to certify their equipment. This has meant that well-known international testing labs have been unable to offer their services to Ukrainian businesses.
Allowing recognized testing labs to operate in Ukraine — a move anticipated by the global gambling community —would greatly boost the country’s attractiveness to legitimate gambling enterprises by streamlining and demystifying the certification process. This change will be seen as a positive step toward addressing a major issue and enhancing Ukraine’s reputation as a destination for legal gambling activities.”
