Ecuabet has partnered with the Ecuadorian Football Federation in gaining the naming rights to the country’s top football division, LigaPro.
Over the next five years, the league will be managed by LigaPro Ecuabet, with a high probability of extending this cooperation.
Miguel Ángel Loor, President of the LigaPro, commented: “We have traveled an important path in the Professional League to be where we are, and we have gone hand in hand with Ecuabet without anyone knowing, trying to make this day come. It is the number one company investing in Ecuador, not only in football but in social issues. And it is a very important agreement for football, for the clubs, for the footballers and for everyone. I am very proud to call ourselves LigaPro Ecuabet.”
The 2024 football season starts on February 16 within the LigaPro Ecuabet League.
Towards the end of 2023, LigaPro introduced changes to the rules relating to sports betting, in response to market growth and investigations into the possible involvement of players in this area.
The Council of Presidents has notified a ban on participation in sports betting for players, managers and other members of LigaPro teams, including family members.
In Ecuador, the betting industry operates steadily both in offline casinos and on online platforms. Despite the lack of specific regulation, it is worth noting a presidential decree banning advertising and a law introducing a 15% tax on national and global operators, as well as another 15% on player prizes.
