Kazakhstan Revealed the Mechanism for Transmitting Data from Bookmakers to Tax Authorities

At the briefing held on February 8, 2024, at the State Revenue Committee of the Ministry of Finance of Kazakhstan, information was presented regarding the security of the mechanism for transmitting data from bookmakers to the tax authorities.

Aliya Jetibayeva, Director of the Methodology Department at the State Revenue Committee, emphasized that the confidentiality of data concerning participants in bets and bets will be strictly observed in accordance with tax secrecy, as provided in Article 30 of the Tax Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The director noted, “Tax secrets regarding individuals are confidential. The level of security of our systems is very high, as assessed by OECD experts. We all sign agreements on the non-disclosure of confidential information, including tax and customs secrets. Any such leak by a civil servant is a matter of criminal liability.”

Aliya Jetibayeva emphasized that information about bettors and their winnings can be provided at the request of a court or law enforcement agencies in the context of a criminal case. However, in the future, the security of this data will depend on the effectiveness of the protection of information systems of judicial authorities and internal affairs bodies.

Starting from February 12, 2024, the obligation of gambling business organizers, including those engaged in bookmaker and/or totalizator activities, to provide the State Revenue Committee with information about participants in gambling and betting, as well as their winnings, has come into force.
