Betsson strengthened its influence in Europe by acquiring Holland Gaming Technology, a gaming operator licensed in the Netherlands, and Holland Power Gaming, a Dutch gaming studio that creates casino games.
The total transaction value is € 27.5 million, financed from its own liquid assets and does not include cash and debt.
Holland Gaming Technology distributes its games through the websites www.goldruncasino.nl and www.goldruncasino.com, while Holland Power Gaming B.V. is the sole game supplier for Holland Gaming Technology.
The acquisition will gradually contribute to the growth of revenues from local regulated markets, expressing Betsson’s strategic ambitions to achieve profitable development through expanding its geographical presence.
The acquisition continues to strengthen Betsson’s position, following two consecutive record financial results and key performance indicators. Last week, the company announced that corporate group revenues for 2023 were €948 million, up 22% from 2022 results of €777 million.
Pontus Lindwall, CEO at Betsson, said: “The share of revenue from locally regulated markets continued to increase and amounted to 45.9 per cent (34.2 per cent) in the fourth quarter. We see a continued positive development where more countries introduce regulation to enable online gaming with local gaming licenses and reasonable conditions for players and operators. In 2024, Peru and Brazil are expected to introduce licensing systems for online gaming, and Betsson is preparing to apply for gaming licenses in these markets.”
On future plans, Lindvall added: “I look forward to 2024 with confidence. Betsson is well-positioned for continued value creation thanks to a strong financial position, proprietary technology, an attractive customer offering, and – above all – our employees. I would like to thank our employees for all their great efforts in 2023 and also extend my gratitude to our shareholders for the trust they have shown.”
