Apple has officially unveiled the Apple Sports app, which provides users with the ability to track scores, team statistics, betting odds and more across various major sports leagues.
Supported leagues include the Premier League, NBA, NCAA basketball, NHL, Bundesliga, LaLiga, Liga MX, Ligue 1, Serie A and MLS, for which Apple has exclusive streaming rights. Additional leagues such as MLB, NFL, NCAAF, NWSL and WNBA will be gradually added to Apple Sports in the coming seasons.
Eddy Cue, Apple’s Senior Vice President of Services, noted: “We created Apple Sports to give sports fans what they want – an app that delivers incredibly fast access to scores and stats”.
Apple Sports aims to provide fans with an “easy and fast” tool to keep track of teams and leagues at all times. The app does not include betting functionality, and Apple emphasizes that users can turn off betting odds if they choose.
Cue continued: “Apple Sports is available for free in the App Store and makes it easy for users to stay up to date with their favorite teams and leagues”.
With Apple Sports, users have the ability to customize their scoreboards to follow their favorite teams, tournaments, and leagues. Fans can switch between scores and upcoming games, explore match information, team stats, roster details and live betting odds. Then, with one tap, they can go to the Apple TV app and enjoy live streams of games from Apple and other connected streaming services.
Apple Sports seamlessly syncs with your preferences in My Sports, including the Apple TV and Apple News apps.
Apple has been active in the sports world in recent years, acquiring rights to broadcast MLB and MLS games.
