SBC Eurasia Editorial Team is happy to present a quick recap of the gambling industry events, news, regulations and partnerships that happened last week. 

SBC Summit Tbilisi is poised to reclaim the spotlight on 25-26 June at the Sheraton Grand Tbilisi Metechi Palace. 1,500 senior sports betting and iGaming executives will reconvene in the heart of Georgia’s capital, to solidify their foothold in the promising markets of Eastern Europe and Central Asia, while gaining invaluable insights into the nuances that shape industry dynamics.

Betby has signed an agreement with game aggregator St8.io, under which the provider’s betting platform will be made available to St8.io’s operating partners. While, 7777 Gaming announces a strategic partnership with SoftGamings. This collaboration not only expands 7777 Gaming’s reach, but also brings over 140 top-notch casino games to SoftGamings’ broad customer base. 

The number of gambling addicts in Ukraine is growing every year, but most of them (87%) were included in the list for 2023. This is reported by Opendatabot. According to the Ukrainian Regulatory Commission on Gambling and Lotteries (KRAIL), 3,871 people have been added to the register in the three years since its inception. 

In Kazakhstan, there is a proposal to equate lotteries with gambling. Experts emphasize that in recent years, the issue of gambling addiction has become an acute social problem in Kazakhstan. Gambling addiction not only affects the mental well-being of gamblers but also has a detrimental impact on the financial stability of their families, ultimately causing harm to society and the economy.

In addition, it became known that Twitch and Kick were banned in Turkey by the National Lottery Administration due to concerns about gambling. Both Twitch and its competitor Kick have come under fire several times in the past due to concerns surrounding broadcast gambling on their platforms. 

After ICE London, Iain Hutchinson, Chief Revenue Officer at Digitain, delves into Digitain’s innovative strategy in developing its sportsbook and iGaming platform. Additionally, at ICE London Soft2Bet presented its innovative product — a gamification application for motivational engineering, MEGA. Uri Poliavich, founder and CEO of Soft2Bet, explained how MEGA is helping the company increase GGR, increase player engagement and triple screen time. 

Gaming Corps, a Swedish game developer, has expanded its partner network by adding WKND to bring its full range of games to Finland and Norway. At the same time, the Finnish Institute of Health and Welfare (THL) has expressed deep concern about the increase in cases of gambling disorders in Finland. Moreover, BML Group has been blacklisted as unlicensed operators in the country by the Finnish National Police Board (NPB).

Hacksaw Gaming has announced a strategy to strengthen its presence in the Dutch gaming market by entering into a partnership with JOI Gaming. Additionally, NetBet announces its new collaboration with leading game developer Hacksaw Gaming, expanding its arsenal of top games offered to customers in Denmark. Another Hacksaw Gaming partnership was with Top Bet Ltd. on the Bulgarian market. 

A new partnership signed by betting and gaming platform provider Sportingtech will see the integration of slot games from igaming development studio RubyPlay onto its platform. 

Sportradar has deepened its ties with Bundesliga International by extending its exclusive partnership for six years until the end of the 2032 season. While, BetUK has been named Blackburn Rovers’ sleeve sponsor for tonight’s FA Cup fifth-round match against Newcastle United. Also, Betano extends its partnership with Brazilian Clube Atlético Mineiro (Galo) for next season. 

The Financial Action Task Force (FATF) excluded Uganda, the UAE, Barbados and Gibraltar from the list of redtaped countries. The latest FATF preliminary meeting concluded that they have fixed all AML deficiencies within the agreed timeframes. The International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) has announced that James Blake has accepted a sanction for breaching tennis’ betting sponsorship rules. The Miami Open Tournament Director and former tennis player reportedly fully cooperated with the investigation and did not contest the charge.

The PGA TOUR has made a strong commitment to fair sports betting by partnering with the Coalition for Responsible Sustainable Betting Advertising. The coalition and its members are committed to limiting betting advertising to adults only and avoiding over-promotion of gambling.

The subject of tax exemptions on gambling prizes/winnings will be debated once more by the government of Brazil. This follows the government’s backing of Provisional Measure (1,206/2024), which seeks to revise the monthly income tax exemptions for public wages up to BRL 2,824 (€530).
