Law enforcement authorities have halted the operation of an underground casino located in a residential building in Adjara, as reported by the investigative department of the Georgian Ministry of Finance.
Two owners of the house have been charged with engaging in illegal business activities.
“The investigation established that the accused organized a gambling business in their home. Without the appropriate mandatory permission, various gambling games were transmitted via the Internet to the sites of online casinos operating outside of Georgia,” the department stated.
Reportedly, GEL 100,000 would have been included in the state budget as a permit fee if the facility were to operate legally. This damage has already been compensated.
The investigation continues under Part 2 of Article 192 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which, as punishment, provides for imprisonment for a term of three to five years.
