Georgia Tightens Controls: Gambling Restrictions for 1.5 Million People in Two Years

In Georgia, 14,826 people with a gambling addiction are registered in the electronic database of the Revenue Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia. According to the information provided by the agency, 48 individuals were added to the list by court decision, while 14,778 did so voluntarily, based on their own application.

In addition, according to the Law of Georgia “On Lotteries, Gambling and Profitable Games”, immediately after the launch of the register, data on 1,503,989 people were automatically added to the list of prohibited persons.

This list includes not only gamblers, but also thousands of socially protected citizens, government employees and people under 25 years of age who are prohibited from gambling.

In 2022, the law regulating the activities of casinos, betting and slot clubs was tightened in Georgia. According to the changes, access to gambling for a specific individual can even be restricted through court by a family member.
