Licensed in Greece: Altenar Is on Its Way to a Successful Launch

Altenar, a sports betting and iGaming software developer, recently successfully completed the process of obtaining a B2B license in Greece. This important step is intended to strengthen the supplier’s position in the European market.

With its head office in Athens, Altenar aims to maximize the opportunities of the growing iGaming market in Greece. Recognition by the Hellenic Gaming Commission will allow Altenar to provide its services in the country for the next seven years.

Marina Zacharopoulou, Compliance Manager at Altenar, commented: “The process of obtaining a license for Altenar was rigorous, albeit familiar due to our experience with similar procedures in other jurisdictions. While we encountered typical challenges along the way, we navigated them smoothly. Achieving a Greek licence holds special significance for Altenar, as a considerable portion of our team is Greek, making it feel like a homecoming… Securing our presence in Greece through licensure not only demonstrates our commitment to regulatory compliance but also positions us to capitalise on the country’s expanding market.”

Following the introduction of the new regulatory framework, the Greek iGaming market is experiencing significant growth, accompanied by a projected increase in tax revenues and the creation of many employment opportunities. A number of companies, including Light & Wonder and NetBet, are actively exploiting this growing market through partnerships and expansion of their operations in Greece. Recent partnerships, such as the agreement between Light & Wonder and bet365, and the licensing agreement between NetBet and Fazi, demonstrate the companies’ commitment to strengthening their position in this dynamic market.
