The World Poker Tour has announced the cancellation of its planned tour in Macau. This event was intended to be a landmark for the organization as it aimed to enter a region with significant growth potential for future events.
Macau is a special administrative region of the People’s Republic of China.
“Macau, which was supposed to take place in June, will not proceed. The WPT, Wynn Macau, and Allied Gaming and Entertainment regret any inconvenience or disappointment caused to players from around the world who were planning to travel to Macau for the event. The WPT remains committed to working with Wynn Macau and AGAE in the future to bring world-class poker tournaments back to the region,” the organizer stated.
The WPT Macau Festival was scheduled for June 18-24, with the main event being a $5,000 buy-in tournament from June 20-24. Another notable tournament was the $25,600 WPT High Roller, scheduled for June 19-20.
