SBC Eurasia Weekly Digest: May 27 — June 3, 2024

SBC Eurasia Editorial Team is happy to present a quick recap of the gambling industry events, news, regulations and partnerships that happened last week.

During a plenary meeting at the end of April, deputies of Mäjilis (Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan) approved in first reading a bill on gambling, lotteries, and lottery activities. SBC Eurasia spoke with Azamat Kasymov, Legal Advisor of the Self Regulatory Organisation Association of Bookmakers of Kazakhstan about the possible impacts of such initiatives.

Kyrgyzstan considers legalizing bookmaker advertisements. Deputies propose allowing advertising for sports betting and betting operators to be placed in buildings where gambling takes place. Branding of bookmakers will also be possible in sports facilities and on sports uniforms.

Ukraine plans to limit P2P transfers. The National Bank of Ukraine is preparing a decision to limit the number of card transfers and set limits on transfers of funds from card to card between individuals.

At the same time, the government of Montenegro confirmed its intention to “amend gambling laws” to prohibit the use of modern payment systems for gambling. These controversial amendments violate EU competition rules by blocking e-banking, IPS and mobile payment services such as PayPal and Apple Pay.

In a highly competitive field at the CasinoBeats Summit, Lambda Gaming emerged triumphant, securing the prestigious Best Game Release of the Year award. This is not the first time Lambda Gaming’s 8Bit direction has been acknowledged on the international stage. 

Riga-based iGaming service provider LuckyStreak has announced a new partnership with iGaming solutions provider Nemesis. While BGaming is entering the Slovakian market by entering into a content partnership with TIPOS, the national operator of state lotteries.

Having successfully worked with Olybet in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Croatia and Italy, Amusnet enters the Spanish market through its partnership with Olybet.es. Additionally, Amusnet has unveiled a new video slot featuring football legend Hristo Stoichkov

The Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) hosted the Gambling Regulators European Forum (GREF) 2024 conference in Malta from 20 to 22 May. This year, for the first time, regulators from other continents attended the conference, allowing the issues to be addressed from a global perspective.

iGaming solutions developer Slotegrator has announced a new partnership with online poker platform EvenBet. While Hacksaw Gaming has partnered with Betclic. This will mark the second launch into the Portuguese markets by the iGaming provider within two months.

SOFTSWISS has unveiled two new features for its platform: cashout cancellation and time zone management. While BetConstruct, the world’s leading iGaming technology provider, has introduced its innovative loyalty platform LOYA to increase customer engagement and retention.

CT Gaming announced that its unique multigame Diamond King 3 has been certified according to the new requirements of the Romanian market. While SkillOnNet has entered a new partnership with Spinomenal, expanding the reach of Spinomenal’s slot portfolio through popular online casino brands like PlayOjo and PlayUzu.

Operator ComeOn Group is enhancing its data-driven personalization strategy by extending its partnership with Optimove. While REEVO has partnered with European online casino platform BetRebels to expand the reach of its content.

The World Poker Tour has announced the cancellation of its planned tour in Macau. This event was intended to be a landmark for the organization as it aimed to enter a region with significant growth potential for future events.

GG.BET says its sponsorship of the heavyweight championship fight between Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury has generated a significant response. The Ukrainian eSports betting platform recorded an influx of customers and an increase in key indicators thanks to the sponsorship of the live broadcast of the fight on May 18. 

Hub88 has entered into an agreement with online casino provider Phoenix 7, bringing Phoenix 7’s games to the Hub88 platform. While LiveScore Group has launched its new online bookmaker, LiveScore Bet, in the UK and Ireland through a partnership with sports data provider Kambi Group.

Financial crime watchdog AUSTRAC announced that it has entered into a binding agreement with sports betting operator Sportsbet to strengthen compliance with Australia’s anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing (AML/CFT) laws.
