A decree signed by Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky at the end of April limits the operation of online gambling websites in the country. More than 2,500 gambling websites operating without a license have already been blocked. In an interview with SBC Eurasia, Viktoriya Zakrevskaya, founding member of and deputy chairman of the Ukrainian Gambling Council (UGC), discussed Ukraine’s gambling situation and the details of the bill.

Brands looking to enter the Eastern European and Central Asian markets face challenges due to complex regulatory requirements, diverse demographics and changing consumer preferences. Romanian Prime Minister Marcel Ciolaku has ordered restrictions on land-based gambling, which now require re-examination by the Romanian Constitutional Court to become federal law. However, the Supreme Court has ordered a “constitutional review” of a measure banning gambling in towns with a population of less than 15,000 to change Romania’s Criminal Code.

Sports betting operator Ringobet.kz lost its license and was fined for violating the law, according to the press service of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of Kazakhstan. While EvenBet Gaming has received the Kansspelautoriteit (KSA) certificate, which allows it to provide poker and card games to regulated gaming operators in the Netherlands.

Booming Games has announced a new partnership with BetArabia, Lebanon’s exclusive regulated online casino. While online gaming platform and solutions provider Comtrade Gaming has announced a new partnership with gaming aggregator Alea, which will now serve as a distributor of Comtrade’s games.

Smartbet plans to “expand the horizons of online gaming” with slot releases from provider REEVO. While sports betting operator Betsson has announced a new partnership with B2B esports betting provider Oddin.gg, which will now provide esports odds and statistics data for the group.
