A new Committee for Gambling Business may be established in Kazakhstan

The regulation of gambling in Kazakhstan may be transferred to a new specialized structure within the Ministry of Tourism and Sports.

The corresponding draft government resolution is currently undergoing public discussion, which will end on June 24.

According to the text of the regulatory act, the current Tourism Industry Committee will be reorganized by creating a new Committee for the Regulation of Gambling Business and Lotteries.

It is noted that in order to organize the work of the new specialized gambling committee, it will not be necessary to hire new employees, since its composition will be formed from employees of the reorganized structure. There are also no additional budget expenses provided.

Kazakhstan previously lacked a separate regulatory body to manage the gambling industry. Previously, issues of the gambling industry were dealt with by the Ministry of Culture and Sports, but after changes in the structure of the executive power, control over the gambling sector passed to the Ministry of Tourism and Sports.
