For the second year in a row the $10,000 buy-in World Series of Poker Main Event in Las Vegas has not only exceeded 10,000 entries but has also set a new record for the largest prize pool in live poker tournament history.
The 2024 edition of the event drew 10,112 runners, besting the 2023 record of 10,043 entrants. Nearly half of those players took part in Day 1D of the event, which drew 5,014 players.
“Ten thousand entrants has become the new magic number for the WSOP Main Event,” said Executive Director of the WSOP Ty Stewart. “The response has been overwhelming since our move to the Las Vegas Strip. Thank you to our partners, team members, and, most of all, the players for another unforgettable summer.”
The prize pool came in at just over $94 million and every player who makes the final table will earn a seven-figure payday. For the second year in a row, the top prize amounts to $10 million in addition to the coveted WSOP bracelet. This year’s iteration of the bracelet was once again designed by Jostens. It features 445 grams of 10 karat yellow gold in addition to over 2,500 gemstones, including diamonds, black onyx and rubies.
The top 1,517 finishers will each make the money. A minimum cash pays out $15,000.
Last year, Daniel Weinman topped the field to win the tournament’s top prize and the first eight-figure payday in WSOP Main Event history.
