Betano continued the “Summer of Football” by sponsoring a celebratory match to mark the 20th anniversary of Greece’s unexpected victory at Euro 2004.
The event featured a friendly match between the 2004 Greek National Team, known as ‘Legends 2004’, and the UEFA All Star team.
At the Essen Stadium, the match was attended by football stars such as Luís Figo, Sol Campbell, Claude Makélélé and Clarence Seedorf as well as Greek football heroes Thodoris Zagorakis and Angelos Charisteas.
The Legends 2004 took the lead thanks to a goal from Stelios Giannakopoulos in the 15th minute. However, the UEFA Аll-stars won 2-1 in the second half thanks to goals from Luis Figo and Luis Garcia.
The match paid tribute to Otto Rehhagel, the Essen-born architect of Greece’s 2004 triumph.
