Flutter UK and Ireland have sponsored a new documentary series about the world of jump jockeys.
The series, titled “Champions: Full Gallop”, premiered on ITV1 and ITVX at 9:00 PM prime time on the evening of July 19.
The six-episode production offered viewers a look at the sport’s greatest legends, providing access to the main players, high rollers and key protagonists.
Lily Wilson, ITV Commissioning Editor at ITV, said: “This is an opportunity to see at close quarters the adrenaline, tension, drama, and emotion behind the scenes of Jump Racing. The series promises a rich mix of excitement, colorful personalities, and powerful stories. As the home of ITV racing, we’re looking forward to bringing this incredible sport to an even wider audience”.
The behind-the-scenes pass will provide an insight into the lives of the jockeys, owners and trainers involved with the horses competing in the 2023-24 steeplechase season.
Produced by South Shore in partnership with Flutter and Racecourse Media Group (RMG), the program will feature exclusive interviews with jockeys Harry Skelton, Harry Cobden and Sean Bowen, as they battle to become champion jockeys among other renowned heroes of the sport.
Ian Brown, CEO of Flutter UK & Ireland, noted: “We loved the idea of creating horseracing’s answer to F1’s Drive to Survive, and we are immensely proud to back Champions: Full Gallop, viewing it as a unique opportunity to reaffirm our unwavering commitment to grow this great sport. This is a showcase in what can be achieved when the industry unites to tackle challenges in a collaborative way.”
Martin Stevenson, CEO of Racecourse Media Group, added: “South Shore has done an incredible job in harnessing the powerful stories behind racing, conveying them in a way that’s accessible to everyone. This series will bring the sport to an entirely new audience, captivating the next generation of racing fans and hopefully encouraging a new generation to get involved in the sport.”
