With the gaming and sports betting industry continually evolving through the emergence of innovative technologies, platforms and new markets, the upcoming SBC Summit in Lisbon will offer the 25,000 delegates the latest leadership strategies to drive professional growth and global success for brands. A special conference track on Global Leadership will run throughout the three days of the SBC Summit, which will take place from 24 to 26 September at the Feira Internacional de Lisboa.

Additionally, Sir Tim Berners-Lee, the inventor of the World Wide Web, will speak at the SBC Summit 2024 in Lisboa. The fireside discussion with Sir Tim, focusing on how his vision of a globally connected network of computers has revolutionised the way we share information. 

The Kazakh government cracks down on illegal lotteries conducted through social networks. According to the law of Kazakhstan, only the lottery operator and its authorized agents are permitted to run lotteries. Currently, 16 citizens have been brought to administrative responsibility and fined 7 million tenge ($15,200) for organizing illegal sweepstakes on social networks.

At the same time, Ukrainian Commission for Regulation of Gambling and Lotteries continues to actively fight against illegal casinos operating on the Ukrainian Internet. The regulator’s new step was cooperation with the international company Meta Platforms, Inc.

Romania is set to implement a new strategy to address and reduce addiction harms across its administrative regions. President Klaus Iohannis signed a decree co-authored by Romania’s Ministries of Health and Justice to establish eight ‘regional centers for the treatment of addictions.’ The new strategy aims to rectify current inadequacies in treating drug, alcohol, and gambling addictions, particularly among those under 25.

Entain Plc has confirmed the inbound appointment of Gavin Isaacs as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the FTSE100 gambling group. While Sophie Hodgson, who has been with Blexr for two years, is stepping into the role of Chief Operating Officer. She previously held the position of Vice President of Human Resources.

OpenBet handled over 140 million bets across all channels during the 2024 European Football Championship. The tournament experienced a significant rise in betting activity throughout all stages. While bet365 stated that Euro 2024 saw “substantial hit” on certain markets despite overall success. 

bet365 has also announced a 12-month extension of its partnership with Gentoo Media, previously known as GiG Media, continuing their five-year collaboration. While 7777 Gaming announced the launch of over 100 certified games on the WINBET Romania platform. 

Betsson highlighted the second quarter of 2024 as its “best quarter ever” with new record figures across its casino and sportsbook operations. The operator’s casino revenue rose by just under 16 per cent in comparison to the same period last year, which was also a new all-time high for the group. 

Foreign streamers could be blocked for promoting unlicensed gambling to German audiences following a ruling by the Higher Administrative Court of Saxony-Anhalt. Streaming can be used as a direct form of advertising and GGL believes this poses a particular risk to player protection. 

Wazdan’s game content, gamification features and unique mechanics will be available to Italian players thanks to the studio’s agreement with AdmiralBet.

A record payout on its Crazy Time game may have slowed growth at Evolution, but CEO Martin Carlesund reassured investors that the company’s Q2 2024 performance was “solid”. The gaming giant reported operating revenues of €508.4m, representing a 15.3 percent increase on the corresponding period in 2023, while EBITDA climbed by 10.9 percent to €345.8 million.

A 17-year-old suspected of being involved in a massive cyberattack on MGM Resorts has been arrested in Walsall, England. The attack, which occurred last fall, caused significant disruption at MGM properties across the country. MGM CEO Bill Hornbuckle said the incident cost the company at least $100 million and led to a series of lawsuits between the company and the Federal Trade Commission.

English football will adopt a new Code of Conduct on ‘Gambling Related Agreements’, safeguarded by the FA, EFL, Premier League and Women’s Super League. Leagues and clubs must abide by the following four general principles on gambling sponsorships to ensure protection, social responsibility, reinvestment, and integrity.

Flutter UK and Ireland have sponsored a new documentary series about the world of jump jockeys. The series, titled “Champions: Full Gallop”, premiered on ITV1 and ITVX. 

Dinamo Bucharest has announced a sponsorship deal with Superbet. As part of the agreement, the Superbet logo will be prominently displayed on the front of the team’s jerseys. The collaboration also includes extensive digital media coverage and campaigns aimed at attracting more fans to stadiums and events. While bj88 has signed on as the front-of-shirt partner for AFC Bournemouth for the upcoming two seasons. The gambling company is set to become the Premier League club’s official Asian sports betting partner and a principal partner, marking a record-breaking deal for the club.

Inspired has announced a partnership with Betano to launch Re-Play eSports. The new betting solution combines virtual sports offerings and fixed odds esports events, providing 24/7 access to esports action. While Kaizen Gaming has teamed up with Playtech to launch an exclusive live casino game, Pig Champions.
