Support for Women in Gaming: SBC Launches WE Initiative

SBC is enhancing its commitment to supporting women in sports betting, online gaming, and related fields with the launch of the Women’s Empowerment Initiative (WE).

WE aims to unite, educate, and empower women, striving to create a community of strong and inspired leaders capable of making a significant impact.

In September, SBC will present its special program at the SBC Summit, taking place from September 24-26 at Feira Internacional de Lisboa.

Support for efforts to unite and empower women comes from groups such as the All-In Diversity Project, the Brazilian Association of Women in Gaming (AMIG), the Latin American Asociación Femenina de Gaming (ASFEG), Global Gaming Women (GGW), SheEOs, the Malta-based Women in Gaming Group, and the Women in Gaming – African Chapter.

Lucía Mouriño, VP Relationships LatAm, SBC: “Drawing 25,000 delegates from around the world, this flagship event is the perfect opportunity for us at SBC to partner up with leading organisations, associations, and groups dedicated to empowering women. As an event organizer, we are committed to providing a space for women in our male-dominated industry to discuss what matters to them. We are very pleased with the overwhelming support from our allies worldwide.”

SBC actively raises awareness of the challenges women face in the gaming industry by regularly organizing networking breakfasts at its events and conferences specifically designed to unite women through mentorship, specialized content, and special features.

With the upcoming conference in Lisbon, SBC is expanding its mission. Assigning an official name and goals to the initiative is the first step in demonstrating the company’s commitment to creating a year-round support network that will function not only at the SBC Summit but also at other events.

The SBC Summit 2024 program will feature a variety of activities aimed at strengthening connections among women. Key events include a formal dinner, a special networking session on the exhibition floor with selected participants, the traditional GGW breakfast, and conference sessions addressing the most pressing issues facing women in the industry.

SBC will also hold a special ceremony to recognize two outstanding women who have not only achieved significant career success but are also actively involved in mentorship and advocacy for women in sports betting and iGaming.

Mouriño added, “As part of this initiative, it is important to celebrate both established achievements and those who strive to support and develop their peers, even if conditions are not ideal.”

SBC invites women in the industry to contact [email protected] to participate and share ideas for improving women’s representation in the industry.
