Kambi, the B2B gambling giant, has released a detailed report on betting trends during the Euro 2024 and Copa América, drawing on data from its B2C operator partners.
The report reveals that Spain led the way in the Euro as the most backed team, followed by France and Portugal. England ranked sixth, with Turkey in tenth place.
In the Copa América, Colombia emerged as the top choice for bettors, narrowly edging out 2022 World Champions Argentina. Panama was the least favored, ranking tenth.
Fan-favorite players have shifted, with Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi no longer holding the top spots. Ronaldo ranked fourth among the most bet-on players in Europe, while Messi placed third in the Americas. Dutch and Liverpool forward Cody Gakpo topped the list in Europe, while Colombian star Luis Díaz led in Copa América.
Pre-match betting dominated during both tournaments, with 69% of bets placed before matches in the Euros and 78% in Copa América. This was a slight increase from the 2020 tournaments, where pre-match bets accounted for 68% and 59%, respectively.
Kambi also noted a significant rise in Bet Builder usage. The percentage of Bet Builder bets more than doubled from the 2021 to 2024 tournaments. During the Euro Championship, Bet Builder bets reached 18%, up from 8% in 2020. Copa América saw an even greater increase, with 24% of bets being Bet Builders, up from 10% in 2020.
