The number of gambling license applications has exceeded initial expectations in the Brazilian market as the deadline for submissions has passed.
Reflecting the strong interest and enthusiasm from operators, a total of 113 companies have applied for licenses to operate in the region.
These applicants aim to operate under the newly established framework, which, after extensive discussions, is nearly finalized and will prominently feature iGaming.
According to SIGAP’s website, Kaizen Gaming, which has significantly increased its marketing efforts in South America recently, is one of the leading contenders seeking a license.
Other major players in the industry, such as Betfair, Stake, and Meridian Gaming, are also among the applicants.
As part of the 113 initially registered companies, these operators will have priority in the review process for their applications. However, Plínio Lemos Jorge, President of the ANJL, indicated that the number of license applications is expected to continue growing through the end of the year.
“We are certain that next year we will have a completely different market. Honest, responsible and regulated, where bettors will be able to be sure that they are playing on a serious and safe platform,” Lemos Jorge said.
The current submissions are expected to be approved or rejected by mid-November, with the wider regulated market set to launch on 1 January, 2025.
