CEO of Australian Crown Resorts Ciaran Carruthers has confirmed his departure after nearly two years with the company.
He said he was leaving the company after a “transformation” while President and COO David Tsai will take over on an interim charge.
This comes after regulators handed Crown Resorts back control of its licenses after a period of regulatory woes.
John Borghetti, Chairman of Crown Resorts, also backed Crown’s growth under Carruthers.
Borgetti expressed: “Under Ciaran’s leadership, Crown has achieved critical milestones including a whole-of-business transformation and remediation programme.”
Carruthers added: “I am very pleased to hand over a stronger, compliant and transformed business to its next leader. There is more work to do, but I am very proud of what we have achieved as a team.”
Earlier this year, the Independent Casino Commission of New South Wales announced that Crown Resorts’ Crown Sydney property was compliant to retain its license following a regulatory review.
At the time, Crown said it had invested A$200 million to transform its operations, including implementing “wide-ranging reforms to mitigate harm, combat financial crime, improve governance, compliance and risk management.” It also reduced its workforce by 1,000 as it adapts to the region’s complex regulatory environment.
