The World Series of Poker (WSOP) has announced its first major tournament series since GGPoker said it would be acquiring the brand last month.
The brand has been offering online bracelet events in tandem with the live WSOP each summer in Las Vegas and offered an online series of bracelet events during the early stages of the pandemic in 2020.
The series will run in Nevada, New Jersey and Michigan from Sept. 29-Nov. 12 and feature 33 bracelet events. There will also be an additional four bracelets up for grabs in Pennsylvania, where WSOP Online is live but remains ring-fenced while the other three states pool players. It is the largest U.S. online bracelet series the brand has ever undertaken.
“Grab your chargers and get ready,” said Senior Vice President and Executive Director of the World Series of Poker Ty Stewart. “With legal jurisdictions on both coasts and now in the Midwest with Michigan, most U.S. players should be within a reasonable distance to log onto our network and get in on the action. The WSOP Online 2024 domestic schedule should feature the largest online prize pools of the year that players will not want to miss.”
Buy-ins for the tournament range from $250-$5,300. The Main Event features a $1,000 buy-in but is not one of the five tournaments with a guaranteed prize pool. In fact, the only tournaments with guarantees on the schedule are mystery bounty events.
The WSOP brand now belongs to GGPoker but the series will still be run on Caesars Digital licenses and Evoke software. When the pair announced the acquisition last month, the release noted that Caesars would retain licensing rights for the WSOP online brand “for the foreseeable future.”
