TotoGaming has strengthened its presence in the Romanian market by signing a two-year sponsorship deal with FC CFR Cluj.
The online casino and sports betting operator entered the Romanian market earlier this year, and this partnership marks its first in Romanian sports. Previously, the company had signed sponsorship agreements with five football clubs in its home country, Armenia.
Harutyun Vardanyan, CEO of TotoGaming, noted: “This collaboration was anticipated. Supporting the development of sports and promoting a healthy lifestyle have been core principles of TotoGaming from the beginning. CFR Cluj exemplifies these championship values. The club, with its 100-year history, knows what it takes to become a champion.”
TotoGaming’s partnership with the eight-time Romanian football champions kicks off in the 2024/25 season and will run for two full seasons.
The deal strengthens the links between online casino operators and football, with several brands recently signing deals with Premier League teams ahead of the 2024/25 season in August.
Leicester City have partnered with BC.Game and Southampton FC with Rollbit, with both clubs agreeing to feature the crypto casinos’ brands in their sponsored ads.
These deals between gambling operators and football clubs come ahead of the voluntary ban on sponsored gaming ads that is planned for Premier League clubs at the end of the 2025/26 season.
