bet365 has announced its official launch in Peru, continuing its expansion into new markets in South America. The bookmaker group has unveiled the bet365.pe website and mobile app, highlighting its commitment to delivering a “never-before” online sports betting experience to the Peruvian environment.
With the launch in Peru, bet365 will attract customers with its “innovative offerings” In-Play betting markets via its own sports betting platform, which covers over 96 sports and offers access to over 1,000,000 live streams.
“We are delighted to launch a dedicated bet365 website in Peru, the fourth-largest country in the region, known for its vibrant culture and dynamic population,” bet365 stated in its launch statement.
“As well as our unrivalled sports betting experience, our customers in Peru can now enjoy a comprehensive range of offerings, including casino games, live casino action, and poker.”
Bet365 has expanded its presence in Latin America, with Peru being the latest destination following its entry into Mexico’s regulated market in 2019 and obtaining dual authorization for online sportsbook operations in Buenos Aires province and city in 2022.
In addition, Bet365 is among 90 companies that have secured licensing for Brazil’s upcoming regulated betting market, expected to launch in January 2025.
In Peru, President Dina Boluarte approved amendments to the country’s Gambling Law last year, creating a legal framework for online gambling. These changes included a 12% income tax on online gambling, applicable to both domestic and foreign operators. Foreign operators are required to contribute at least 600 Peruvian tax units (around $500,000) to maintain their licenses, which are overseen by MINCETUR, Peru’s Ministry of Trade and Tourism.
The regulatory updates have spurred mergers and acquisitions in Peru’s gambling sector. In 2021, Betsson AB purchased Lima-based operator Inkabet for $25 million, and more recently, Spanish gambling group CIRSA, owned by Blackstone, acquired a 70% stake in Apuesta Total, making it the leading operator in the Andean market.
bet365 underscored its commitment to providing safer gambling environments for its new Peruvian customers, stating: “We are dedicated to leveraging our extensive experience and advanced Responsible Gambling tools to ensure a secure and responsible gaming environment for all our customers in Peru.”
