The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has officially announced the launch of its first national lottery, the UAE Lottery, which will be regulated by the General Commercial Gaming Regulatory Authority (GCGRA) and operated by the local provider, The Game LLC.
Starting November 27, UAE residents aged 18 and older can participate in the country’s first regulated lottery program, offering a variety of games for players across the region.
The lottery will be managed by The Game LLC, a licensed operator authorized by the newly established GCGRA. The inaugural draw features a grand prize of AED 100 million ($27.2 million), along with seven additional Luck Chance ID prizes of AED 100,000 ($27,000) each.
Players in the region can now also choose from several types of scratch cards, offering prizes ranging from AED 50,000 ($13,500) to AED 1 million ($272,000), including prizes of AED 100,000 ($27,000) and AED 300,000 ($81,000). Tickets for the first lottery draw, scheduled for December 14, are already available for purchase on the official website.
Reports of the gradual introduction of gambling in the region have emerged over the past two years, beginning in July 2022, when Wynn Resorts announced plans for a $2 billion project in the country.
In July 2024, the UAE announced the issuance of its first lottery license, which was followed by the announcement of the first gaming licenses granted to Wynn Resorts and Aristocrat.
This latest announcement marks another significant milestone in the evolving gambling market in the region.
Commenting on the news, Bishop Woosley, Director of Lottery Operations at The Game LLC, said: “Our mission at The UAE Lottery is to inspire people to dream big, aligning with our slogan, ‘Dare to Imagine.’ We aim to create exciting experiences while promoting responsible play. Following a rigorous GCGRA evaluation, our team remains committed ensuring that all operations meet global standards, guaranteeing fairness and transparency from the draw process to the selection of winners.”
