World football legend, Argentina National team forward, and Inter Miami star Lionel Messi visited Baku. The eight-time Ballon d’Or winner was accompanied by his friends and teammates Luis Suárez, Sergio Busquets, and Jordi Alba.
The event, which took place in Baku Crystal Hall, began with a bright performance by the rhythm group “Natig”. After that, the audience was treated to a concert by the famous composer and performer Willy William.
The highlight of the evening was the screening of a documentary about Lionel Messi’s career, offering the audience an immersive look into the story of his triumphs and achievements as one of the greatest athletes in history.
After the film, Lionel Messi himself came out on stage accompanied by his teammates. Children from Azerbaijan’s football schools were thrilled at the unique opportunity to meet them and take memorable photos. Moreover, the footballers gave the children balls with autographs, which sparked even greater excitement.
“Thank you so much for the warm welcome! This is my first time in Baku, but I’ve already had the chance to get acquainted with Azerbaijani culture and people. Thank you for your support!” Messi said.
The sports celebration for football fans continued with a performance by the popular band Morandi, which was also attended by children from Baku orphanages and children with disabilities.
Proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to charity.
