Amid ongoing political instability in the French market, PokerStars and Club Barrière announced the cancellation of the 2025 European Poker Tour (EPT) in Paris, which was originally scheduled for February next year.
The company explained that the decision was made due to “unforeseen changes in French government policies and ongoing regulatory developments in Paris” which are beyond their control.
PokerStars also stated that they are closely monitoring legislative changes, as uncertainty regarding licensing requirements persists.
It was also confirmed that PokerStars plans to reschedule the Paris event despite the existing regulatory challenges in the country.
Additionally, PokerStars and Club Barrière reaffirmed their commitment to continuing cooperation with local authorities to create a more stable regulatory environment.
In an official statement, PokerStars added: “We understand the disappointment this news will bring to our players and the wider poker community. To those who have already secured online packages for EPT or FPS Paris, our team will reach out directly with further information.”
