Allwyn UK has received two important certifications that demonstrate its commitment to responsible gaming principles. The National Lottery operator achieved certification under the European Lotteries (EL) Responsible Gaming Standard and reached the fourth, highest level of the World Lottery Association’s (WLA) Responsible Gaming Framework.
These internationally recognized certificates confirm that the operators implements high standards of player protection and adheres to safety principles in the organization of lottery games.
Allwyn’s CEO, Andria Vidler, commented: “Just over a year on from taking over as The National Lottery operator, we’re delighted to announce that we’ve achieved these important EL and WLA Responsible Gaming Certifications.
“National Lottery games are specially designed to be safe and secure, ensuring they don’t appeal to underage or vulnerable players.
“However, with over 30 million people routinely playing National Lottery games – raising over £30m ($38.9m) a week for good causes in the process – it’s crucial that we continue to do everything we can to prevent underage and excessive play.”
Some of the initiatives implemented by Allwyn include ensuring that its 43,500 retail partners comply with the Challenge 25 scheme.
Using more than 8,200 mystery shoppers last year, Allwyn verified that 92.3% of National Lottery retailers correctly requested ID as proof of age.
In October last year, Allwyn also introduced a limit of ten scratchcards per transaction and became a Level Two participant in the National Council on Problem Gambling’s Gift Responsibly Campaign.
Additionally, Allwyn integrated QR codes into in-store media screens to provide instant support to customers and launched the National Lottery Retail Training Centre to enhance employee training.
In its FY2024 report, Allwyn International reported a 12% increase in revenue, reaching €8.79 billion ($9.52 billion) compared to the previous year.
Vidler addrd: “So, it’s great to have this external recognition of what we’ve achieved so far, but we also know that our work in this area is never finished.
“We plan to continue working hard on our responsible play credentials and driving up our own high standards, keeping National Lottery players at the heart of everything we do.”
