Veikkaus Announces Partnership With Thunderkick

Veikkaus, the state-owned gambling operator in Finland, has expanded the content available to players in the country after agreeing to a partnership with Thunderkick. Through the services of aggregator EveryMatrix, a variety of titles from the Swedish slots studio will be playable on the Veikkaus platform, including Esqueleto Explosivo 2, Hot Potato and Midas Golden Touch.

The deal for Thunderkick sees the studio continue to grow its footprint across the European continent, as it recently secured a content partnership with Domusbet in the Italian iGaming market.

“Europe remains an integral part of our growth strategy as we continue to develop our global footprint,” commented Svante Sahlström, Chief Commercial Officer at Thunderkick.

“Finland has been a long-standing target, and by partnering with the renowned operator Veikkaus, we can tap into the potential of an entirely new audience. We look forward to debuting our portfolio in the jurisdiction and have no doubt our content will be a success.”

The agreement comes as the Finnish online gambling market prepares to undergo significant structural changes, as the country’s government seeks to move away from a monopoly model with Veikkaus to a licensing system framework.

In March, Finland’s Government received parliamentary approval to make changes to its gambling laws and monopoly protections, with the new regulatory framework scheduled to launch in 2027.

Sahlström also spoke to iGaming Expert earlier this year about the slot studio’s goals for 2025 and how Thunderkick looks to separate itself in the iGaming industry from its competitors: “Everybody has our games, but we need to provide the best service. If we don’t have a super, super hit, which we always aim to have, we still need to provide the best service.

“That is what I’m trying to create. We will be a true partner for our customers, for our operators. I want to build this strong and collaborative relationship.”
