Light & Wonder Acquires 20% Stake in Bang Bang Games

Light & Wonder announced a 20% investment in Bang Bang Games on Thursday, giving the London-based slot studio access to North American gaming markets. The slots maker invested in Bang Bang as part of its Spark program, which provides a platform for new studios operating without a remote game server.

The program offers tools and resources to help smaller studios expand their presence. Bang Bang will use Light & Wonder’s presence to strengthen its presence in America.

“We’re incredibly proud to take this next step in our journey with Light & Wonder,” said Bang Bang CEO Frank McPolin. “Being part of the Light & Wonder™ Spark program has already opened up fantastic opportunities for us, and this investment is a strong endorsement of the work we’re doing. With Light & Wonder’s support, we’re in a great position to build on that momentum, grow our reach, and deliver even more bold, creative content to players globally.”

Light & Wonder is investing in Bang Bang after recently entering into an exclusive agreement with Incentive Games. As part of the agreement, Light & Wonder will supply Incentive Games’ gaming titles to regulated markets in the United States, Canada, South Africa, and Europe. Incentive Games will provide Light & Wonder with both free and paid titles.

In February, Light & Wonder agreed to acquire charitable gaming business Grover Gaming in a deal valued at $850 million. Grover benefits groups like the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars by collecting revenue from pull-tab sales.

Grover Gaming has previously raised more than $200 million since 2003 and operates in five states.

The Light & Wonder deal includes a contingent cash consideration of up to $200 million. The cash consideration is based on financial targets to be achieved by fiscal year 2028.

Light & Wonder expects to close the deal in the second quarter of 2025, pending regulatory approval. The company plans to provide more details about the acquisition during its investor day on May 20.
