Scientific Games Receives Lottery Supplier Licence in the UAE

The UAE’s gaming regulator, the General Commercial Gaming Regulatory Authority (GCGRA), has granted Scientific Games a lottery supplier licence.

This licence enables the company to offer its lottery products and services in the rapidly growing gaming market in the UAE.

The GCGRA was established in 2023 with the aim of developing the gaming sector in the country. Last July, the regulator issued its first lottery licence to The Game LLC, granting the company the right to operate the lottery in the UAE. The establishment of the regulator marked an important step in creating a new regulatory framework for gaming in the Middle East.

Michael Conforti, President of International Business for Scientific Games, commented: “We are extremely pleased that Scientific Games has been authorised as a lottery supplier in the UAE with this license.

“We look forward to putting our more than 50 years of expertise to work in the UAE to offer high-performing products that will responsibly help drive revenue for lottery programs supporting local communities and projects of national importance.”

Scientific Games became the ninth company to receive a supplier licence in the UAE, joining leading industry players such as Aristocrat, Novomatic, and IGT.

Earlier this month, the GCGRA signed a cooperation agreement with the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (NJDGE). The partnership aims to enhance the regulatory framework and develop both land-based and online gaming formats.

The agreement was signed during a visit by an economic delegation from New Jersey to the UAE. The collaboration will focus primarily on cybersecurity, consumer protection, and effective regulatory cooperation between the two authorities.

“This partnership with New Jersey’s DGE aligns cutting-edge technology with modern regulatory frameworks, unlocking economic potential while prioritising consumer protection and responsible gaming,” commented Kevin Mullally, CEO of the GCGRA, at the time of the announcement.

Meanwhile, Wynn Resorts continues the construction of a large-scale resort in the UAE, which will be an important milestone in the company’s international expansion beyond Las Vegas. The project is scheduled for completion in 2027.

On Thursday, May 29, industry attention was focused on the Middle East. Key topics discussed included the prospects of cryptocurrencies in the region, the potential impact of sports popularity on the development of a regulated betting market, and the growth of the casino sector in the UAE, including the Wynn project.
