Affiliate partners may face restrictions under Meta’s new experiment, which limits the number of links users can post on Facebook if they do not subscribe to Meta Verified.
Last week, several users received notifications stating that certain profiles would only be able to share links in two organic posts per month.
Social media expert Matt Navarra shared a screenshot of the notification, which read:
“Starting December 16, certain Facebook profiles without Meta Verified, including yours, will be limited to sharing links in two organic posts per month.
“Subscribe to Meta Verified to share more links on Facebook, plus get a verified badge and additional benefits to help protect your brand.”
A Meta spokesperson told iGaming Expert: “This is a limited test to understand whether the ability to publish an increased volume of posts with links adds additional value for Meta Verified subscribers.”
The company confirmed that the experiment will affect only a limited number of Facebook profiles using Professional Mode and pages, while publishers are currently not part of the trial.
Professional Mode allows users to convert a personal profile into a creator profile, making their posts more discoverable to a wider audience.
This change will directly impact operators posting links from their websites and affiliate programs to reach a broader audience.
For Meta, the experiment is a way to evaluate whether the Meta Verified subscription can become more attractive. The subscription gives Facebook and Instagram users a blue verified badge confirming the authenticity of their account, and the Mark Zuckerberg-owned company is assessing whether increasing link posting capacity enhances the subscription’s value.
Currently, the subscription for business users ranges from $14.99 to $499 per month, depending on the chosen package.
According to Matt Navarra, users can still post links in comments and on other Meta platforms, including Instagram and WhatsApp.
