Betfred has extended and expanded its partnership with Sportradar, focusing on the UK retail betting market amid rising costs and tighter regulatory scrutiny.
Retail Platform Upgrade Across 1,300 Locations
According to the companies, the updated platform is designed to speed up operations at retail outlets and enhance risk management, while remaining stable during peak betting periods. The system is built to handle large volumes of data during major sporting events and can scale in real time as bets are placed.
The primary goal is to ensure seamless in-shop betting even during high-traffic periods, when demand typically puts pressure on retail systems.
Sportradar will also be responsible for ongoing platform improvements. The upgrade is intended not as a one-time deployment, but as a continuous development program.
Platform Designed for Future Expansion
Beyond the immediate upgrade, the agreement allows Betfred to gradually integrate additional Sportradar products over time. This flexible framework is designed to support future enhancements aimed at delivering a more modern retail betting experience.
Although details of the additional products were not disclosed, both parties emphasized that the partnership was initially created with scalability in mind, allowing next-generation features to be layered on top of the core platform.
Betfred Retail Prepares for New Challenges in the UK Market
According to Duncan McDonald, Head of Corporate and Retail Support at Betfred, the agreement strengthens the long-term relationship between the two companies.
“This agreement re-affirms our joint commitment to one another, to develop new products and features that enhance our customer offerings.
It future proofs our retail business and secures our partnership with Betfred’s in house technology team and Sportradar for years to come.”
Paolo Personeni, Executive Vice President of Managed Betting Services at Sportradar, highlighted that the company is well-positioned to support Betfred’s long-term objectives in a competitive environment.
In today’s hyper-competitive marketplace Sportradar is well positioned to help Betfred achieve its long-term growth objectives.
With high street operations closely watched, the technological capabilities powering the Sportradar Retail Platform will allow Betfred to deliver a sustainable and long-term retail offering that engages today’s demanding sports bettors.”
No Financial Details Disclosed
The announcement did not include information on financial terms, implementation timelines, or a shop-by-shop rollout schedule. It also did not specify which additional Sportradar products will be integrated beyond the core retail platform.
Nevertheless, the renewed partnership reflects a broader industry trend. As UK retail operators face rising costs, tighter regulation, and changing customer behavior, reliance on specialist technology providers is increasingly central to maintaining performance, compliance, and customer engagement.
