Armenia will tighten the rules for companies that use gambling-related terms in their names and branding.
Starting from February 8, 2027, companies without the relevant Armenian gambling licence will be prohibited from using terms such as “gambling,” “casino,” “gaming hall,” “online gambling,” “lottery,” and “bookmaking activities.”
According to the State Revenue Committee of Armenia, the restrictions will also apply to the terms “betting office” and “totalizator,” as well as derivatives of these terms and their translations.
The new requirements will apply not only to companies’ official names. Unlicensed organisations will also be prohibited from using gambling-related terminology in trade names and trademarks, website names, and signs.
Each violation will be subject to a fine of AMD 500,000 (approximately $1,400). The Committee recommends that companies review their existing names and branding in advance and make any necessary changes to comply with the new rules.
The new measures are part of a broader effort to strengthen oversight of Armenia’s gambling market. From February 8, 2027, the authorities also plan to strengthen the blocking of illegal operators’ websites through telecommunications providers and introduce additional restrictions on advertising unlicensed online casinos and lotteries.
