Trust, product quality and the ability to keep fans coming back were central themes at SBC Summit Lisbon 2026’s “The Global Game: Where Betting, Sport and Media Meet” panel. While executives from Balkan Bet, Loteria Română, Entain CEE and Flutter CEE discussed why expansion across Central and Eastern Europe requires more than a strong product and investment capital.

After months of planning, Georgia believes it has created the best foundation and environment to support the next evolution of the iGaming business, expanding in existing markets and new geographies. While at SBC Summit, Vakhtang Katamadze outlined a proposition built around banking, gambling-coded payments, regulatory predictability and the ability to establish a sustainable operational base.

Clever Advertising, Hub Affiliations, Flashscore Network and Catena Media were among the big winners at the Affiliate Leaders Awards, a ceremony celebrating affiliate and performance marketing excellence across the global betting and iGaming industry.

Armenia will tighten the rules for companies that use gambling-related terms in their names and branding. While Finland’s National Police Board has now registered 75 applications for gambling licences.

Bulgaria has proposed a new reform that imposes a 1.5% cap on the net fees payment facilitators like banks and e-money institutions can retain from gambling transactions. While Assen Vassilev, Chairman of Bulgaria’s opposition party We Continue the Change, has called for changes in the latest proposal to reform Bulgaria’s Gambling Act.

The Hungarian Parliament has approved a bill stripping the Supervisory Authority for Regulatory Affairs (SZTFH) of its powers to manage gambling concession agreements. This marks the first legislative step towards the new government’s plans to fully abolish the regulator.

Brazil’s online gambling sector has been thrown into uncertainty following President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva’s decision to prematurely terminate the Brazil Bets Law, which regulates the country’s betting market. While DGOJ, Spain’s Directorate General of Gambling, has begun testing its key project to implement a cross-operator deposit limit system.

Meta is facing growing pressure over illegal gambling advertising on its platforms. While speaking at the SBC Summit, PAF Director Jesper Eliasson outlined the company’s new experimental approach to combating illegal gambling.

Online gaming solutions provider Play’n GO has welcomed the Dutch House of Representatives’ decision not to support a total ban on gambling advertising.

Norway’s Ministry of Culture and Equality has proposed granting state-owned Norsk Tipping the right to offer online poker. While The Star Entertainment Group’s licence suspension for The Star Gold Coast has been deferred until 31 March 2027 by the Queensland Government to allow the operator to continue making progress with outstanding commitments from its remediation plan.

Amusnet has expanded its footprint in the Greek gambling market by securing installation deals across casinos in the country. While ThrillTech is evolving the offerings on its side-bet tournament platform with the introduction of ThrillArena across casino, sports betting and live betting.
