Ukraine’s gambling regulator, PlayCity, has imposed new sanctions on Slots U.A. LLC, the company behind the BetKing and 777.ua brands. The measures form part of a broader campaign to strengthen oversight of the gambling industry, including penalties for violations, advertising supervision and enhanced player protection.
PlayCity Fines Slots U.A. Again
Ukraine’s gambling regulator, PlayCity, has fined Slots U.A. LLC, which operates the BetKing and 777.ua brands, a total of more than $105,800 (UAH 4.75 million). The regulator announced the enforcement action on Thursday through its official Telegram channel.
The bulk of the fine — $96,400 (UAH 4.32 million) — relates to the company allowing third parties to deposit money into players’ accounts.
The operator must pay a further $9,640 (UAH 432,350) for failing to comply with a previous order. The order required the company to remedy violations identified by PlayCity earlier.
The new sanctions mark another enforcement action against a licensed operator. PlayCity said it would continue monitoring compliance among licensed gambling companies and take action whenever violations are identified.
Previous Penalties and Advertising Oversight
The latest sanctions follow earlier enforcement measures taken by PlayCity against Slots U.A. LLC. In May 2026, the regulator fined the company more than $9,600 (UAH 432,000) for failing to provide requested information within the required timeframe. The authority reiterated that gambling operators must submit the necessary information in full and within the established deadlines. Compliance with this requirement plays an important role in ensuring transparency in the gambling market.
PlayCity has also strengthened its oversight of gambling advertising. UAF Marketing LLC received a fine of nearly $115,800 (approximately UAH 5.2 million) over alleged violations of advertising regulations. The case concerned the promotion of an online casino during the 2026/27 Ukrainian Cup football season. The enforcement action provides another example of the regulator’s oversight of licensed operators and related companies.
Compliance Measures and Player Protection
In 2025, PlayCity replaced Ukraine’s previous gambling regulator. Since beginning its work, the authority has introduced a range of initiatives aimed at improving industry compliance, curbing illegal gambling and strengthening player protection.
These measures include the launch of a digital tool that allows users to report illegal gambling advertisements. PlayCity has also been working with major online platforms, including YouTube, to reduce the reach of offshore casino advertising and content promoting unlicensed gambling.
Ukraine’s Ministry of Digital Transformation has also presented a draft strategy aimed at minimising gambling-related harm through 2035.
The country continues to expand mechanisms for restricting access to gambling, including voluntary self-exclusion. Requests to impose restrictions on vulnerable individuals can be submitted not only by the individuals themselves but also by their family members or legal representatives.
A nationwide study conducted in May and June found that 86% of online casino users play on licensed platforms. Meanwhile, 78% of respondents said they had no plans to switch to illegal gambling websites.
