Coolbet has identified 131 positions at risk of redundancy at its Tallinn headquarters as its Estonian group company begins a collective consultation process. The final number of job losses has not yet been determined.
Staff at Coolbet’s Tallinn office were informed of the proposed restructuring during a meeting on 26 October. The company has notified Estonia’s Unemployment Insurance Fund of the planned collective redundancies. Chief Operating Officer Tomas Graham said the consultation process was expected to continue throughout November, although no final date has been confirmed.
The proposed cuts are expected to affect primarily development, IT and B2B positions, alongside some customer support and other service roles. VG Estonia employs more than 360 people, while Coolbet has approximately 1,000 employees worldwide.
Coolbet said the proposed restructuring aims to ensure its long-term sustainability and competitiveness. The company pointed to business challenges, weaker-than-expected B2B performance and growing regulatory and tax pressures across several markets. Its B2B operations, particularly in the United States, have reportedly underperformed over the past 12 to 18 months.
Meanwhile, Coolbet’s B2C business has performed better, supported by the World Cup and results in its core markets. The company became part of Sega Sammy following the Japanese group’s acquisition of its parent company, GAN, in 2025. Graham emphasised that the proposed redundancies were not related to Estonia as a gambling market or business location, confirming that Coolbet’s headquarters would remain in Tallinn.
