Gaming industry regulatory veteran Martin Lycka has joined Czech-based esports betting company Oddin.gg in the newly created position vice president of institutional affairs.
Lycka was most recently senior vice president for American regulatory affairs and responsible gambling at Entain since November 2020, where he led the company’s regulatory strategy and responsible gambling initiatives across the U.S., Canada, Latin America and global esports, guiding compliant market entry and helping to support the growth of brands such as BetMGM.
At Oddin, he will oversee the B2B betting solutions provider’s global government relations and regulatory affairs, working closely with regulators, policymakers, industry and integrity bodies and other stakeholders to help guide the company’s international expansion and engagement.
“Esports betting has experienced significant development within fully regulated environments,” said Lycka. “This has been the outcome of proactive engagement, education, transparency and open dialogue with regulators. Oddin.gg, as an industry pioneer, has built its approach around those principles, and I’m looking forward to supporting the company as it scales across many more global markets.”
Oddin said in a release that it seeks to position itself as a compliant intermediary between competitive gaming markets and regulators that oversee highly structured gambling environments. Lycka will help to ensure the company’s esports betting solutions continue to meet evolving compliance standards and he will support its expansion into additional regulated jurisdictions around the world.
