China is strengthening its collaboration with South Korea to fight cross-border gambling. According to the Chinese media outlet People’s Daily, law enforcement officials from both countries recently met to discuss enhancing regional law enforcement and continuing their joint efforts against illegal gambling.
Central to this challenge is the development of new methods for detecting and combating cross-border gambling between China and South Korea. This initiative builds on China’s ongoing efforts to curb cross-border gambling, following similar measures in the Philippines and Sri Lanka to enhance security.
The Chinese embassy, via a statement on WeChat, reiterated that gambling by Chinese citizens in foreign casinos remains illegal. The Chinese government emphasized that it cannot guarantee consumer protections for its citizens gambling in overseas casinos, even if those establishments operate legally within their own jurisdictions.
