Genius Sports Offer Augmented Reality Package for Emirates NBA Cup Broadcasts

Genius Sports will power the 2024 Emirates NBA Cup Playoffs broadcast for TNT Sports with a unique graphics package.

TNT Sports will also partner with the gaming studio behind the NBA 2K basketball video game to deliver the immersive NBA 2K25 DataCast with multiple viewing options on its truTV and Max platforms.

Some of the features will include overlays like Shot Meter, 2K Badges, and official 2K camera angles – much like what you’d see in the video game. This will all be combined with instant game data like player tracking, shot probability, and shot range, all embedded into the broadcasts via Genius Sports’ computing product, GeniusIQ.

Augmented reality will be available during the live coverage of the 2024 Emirates NBA Cup quarterfinals and semifinals, featuring former stars Vince Carter, Candace Parker and Channing Frye.

Additional pre-game, halftime and post-game analysis will be provided by the Emmy Award-winning “Inside the NBA provided by Kia” team – Ernie Johnson, Charles Barkley, Kenny Smith and Shaquille O’Neal.

Genius Sports previously announced revenue of $120 million in its third-quarter 2024 financial report, beating corporate expectations.

On the success journey, Mark Locke, Genius Sports Co-Founder and CEO, commented: “Our strong results are underpinned by our successful commercial execution, positioning us to capture profitable growth alongside our partners as the sports betting industry continues to evolve and expand.”

“We are empowering partners across the sports ecosystem to better reach, engage, and monetise fans using our innovative technology and unique data-driven insights.”
