Wynn Macau Ltd to pay $150 million for use of Wynn Resorts IP

Wynn Macau Ltd has signed new intellectual property licensing agreements with its parent company Wynn Resorts Ltd. The company will pay up to $150 million for the use of the intellectual property over a 12-month period ending December 31, 2025.

The agreement – revised upward from the $140 million that Wynn Macau Ltd paid in 2024 – covers certain trademarks, domain names, “Wynn”-related trademarks, copyrights and service marks in connection with various goods and services.

The annual cap for 2025 was determined following negotiations between the parties on an arm’s length basis, taking into account the formula used for such calculations, the historical amounts paid by the group for licensing Wynn’s Ips and the group’s expected financial performance for the year ending December 31, 2025.

The agreed amount also represents a significant increase since the COVID-affected years, when the amount paid by Wynn Macau Ltd was just US$25.2 million in 2022, rising to US$98.4 million in 2023 and US$140 million this year.

Wynn Macau recently reported total operating income of US$871.7 million for the three months to September 30, 2024, up 6.3% year-on-year but down 1.5% from the June quarter.
