{"id":10251,"date":"2025-07-25T12:31:36","date_gmt":"2025-07-25T11:31:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sbceurasia.com\/en\/?p=10251"},"modified":"2025-07-25T12:31:41","modified_gmt":"2025-07-25T11:31:41","slug":"kambi-reports-overcoming-difficult-financial-period","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sbceurasia.com\/en\/2025\/07\/25\/kambi-reports-overcoming-difficult-financial-period\/","title":{"rendered":"Kambi Reports Overcoming Difficult Financial Period"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Kambi Group<\/strong>\u2019s leadership has described Q2 2025 as a quarter that \u201creflected both the resilience of business\u201d and \u201cthe evolving dynamics of the industry,\u201d as the sports betting supplier navigated challenging market conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The period was marked by tough year-on-year comparisons due to huge betting events of the <strong>Euro-2024 and Copa America<\/strong> taking place last year, alongside FX pressures and new regulatory hurdles.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tough comparisons with last year\u2019s summer of sport have been noted by betting operators too, like <a href=\"https:\/\/sbceurasia.com\/en\/2025\/07\/22\/betsson-reports-h1-revenue-growth-despite-external-challenges\/\"><strong>Betsson<\/strong><\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/sbceurasia.com\/en\/2025\/07\/23\/evokes-retail-segment-delivers-second-best-quarter-since-2023\/\"><strong>evoke<\/strong><\/a>. However, like these firms, Kambi\u2019s trading weathered the storm with a <strong>trading<\/strong> <strong>margin of 11.5%<\/strong>, above its long-term expected range of<strong> 9.5%-11.0%<\/strong>, aided by increased usage of Bet Builder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWhile results were in line with our expectations, they came against a backdrop of challenging market conditions and tough comparisons with Q2 2024,\u201d said CEO <strong>Werner Becher<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cLast year\u2019s quarter benefited from the uplift of the Euros and Copa Am\u00e9rica and included the last full quarter of transition fees from<strong> Penn Entertainment<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cMeanwhile, challenging dynamics include foreign exchange movements and regulatory and tax headwinds, such as deposit limits in the Netherlands and Colombia\u2019s VAT, which continue to affect performance.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Total Q2 revenue came in at<strong> \u20ac40.5m, <\/strong>which was down <strong>11.5% from the previous year<\/strong>. However, when excluding <strong>\u20ac4.5m<\/strong> in transition fees received in Q2 2024, the decline was <strong>just 2.0%<\/strong>, suggesting a more stable underlying performance.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For the first half of 2025, revenue totalled<strong> \u20ac81.9m<\/strong>, a year-on-year decrease of <strong>7.9%<\/strong>. However, excluding transition fees, that figure actually marked a <strong>2.3% increase<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Adjusted EBITDA<\/strong> in the second quarter fell to<strong> \u20ac3.7m (Q2 2024: \u20ac7.5m),<\/strong> at a <strong>margin of 9.2%<\/strong>, while operating profit dropped<strong> to \u20ac1.6m (Q2 2024: \u20ac6.2m).<\/strong> Meanwhile, <strong>earnings per share<\/strong> for the quarter were <strong>\u20ac0.009<\/strong>, compared to <strong>\u20ac0.155 the previous year.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kambi also initiated its largest-ever share buyback with <strong>SEK 165m (\u20ac15m) <\/strong>allocated to be repurchased by 21 November 2025. Total expenses in Q2 were down 3.8% year-on-year to<strong> \u20ac38.1m<\/strong>, with the company noting the early impact of its ongoing 2025 efficiency programme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Becher added: \u201cThe continuation of our 2025 efficiency programme can now start to be seen in our cost base and will continue to drive increased leverage throughout the year.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Helping to drive revenues moving through Q3, just a couple of weeks ago, Kambi netted a two-year sportsbook extension with LeoVegas Group, alongside a new Odds Feed+ agreement, making <strong>LeoVegas<\/strong> the fourth operator to adopt the product since its launch in 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWhile Turnkey partner churn is an inevitable part of the business, it is encouraging to see our product portfolio evolving in ways that now enable us to retain partners through our more extensive product offering,\u201d added Becher.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kambi has also secured a new Turnkey deal with <strong>RedCap<\/strong> in Latin America this week. The partnership will initially launch <strong>Betpro<\/strong> and <strong>Starplay<\/strong> in Panama and El Salvador, with plans to expand into retail and additional markets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cRedCap will be transitioning from a competing supplier, underlining our position as the home of premium sports betting solutions,\u201d said Becher.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Furthermore, Kambi\u2019s esports product was another highlight in the report, becoming the fifth-largest sport by turnover across the company\u2019s network during the quarter.
