Betfred<\/strong> has announced the end of its online betting operations in the United States, bringing a close to the company\u2019s six-year presence in the market. The announcement was published on the website of Wind Creek Bethlehem<\/strong>, Betfred\u2019s land-based partner in the state of Pennsylvania.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWind Creek and Betfred will cease online sports betting operations in Pennsylvania as of July 31, 2025,\u201d the statement reads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Betfred also operates a retail sportsbook at Wind Creek, but it remains unclear whether this location will also be closed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pennsylvania was the last state<\/strong> where Betfred conducted online operations. The company previously operated in Iowa, Arizona, Colorado, Ohio, Maryland, and Virginia<\/strong>, and had a partnership with Silver Reef Casino Resort<\/strong> in Washington state. All of these ventures were shut down due to a lack of market share growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Key reasons for the withdrawal include a lack of long-term financial prospects and a high level of competition, which have also driven many British and European operators to exit the U.S. market. Super Group<\/strong>, the owner of the Betway <\/strong>and Spin Casino<\/strong> brands, announced its complete withdrawal from the American market just three years after being listed on the New York Stock Exchange.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Super Group CEO Neal Menashe<\/strong> stated that the decision was due to a rapidly changing regulatory environment that makes doing business difficult. In contrast, markets such as Europe and Africa offer more stability and better potential for long-term value growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among other companies that have exited the U.S. market is Malta-based Tipico<\/strong>, which had offered online sports betting in New Jersey, Colorado, Iowa, and Ohio<\/strong> before selling its U.S. assets to LeoVegas<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
