This coincides with the reporting season for interim results, which always clearly shows how much money gambling companies in the country make.<\/p>\n\n\n\n For example, in just the second quarter, Flutter Entertainment<\/strong> (operator of Paddy Power, Sky Bet, and Betfair<\/strong>) earned $936m <\/strong>in the UK, Entain<\/strong> (Ladbrokes and Coral<\/strong>) made \u00a31.09bn<\/strong>, and Evoke<\/strong> (William Hill and 888<\/strong>) generated more than \u00a3600m<\/strong> from retail and online operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Politicians like former Prime Minister Gordon Brown<\/strong>, who advises the government on gambling taxation and child poverty, believe that higher gambling taxes could help address the latter issue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Meanwhile, the Social Market Foundation<\/strong> think tank and MPs from the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Gambling Reform, led by long-time activist Iain Duncan Smith, argue that gambling should be taxed more heavily because of its social impact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
